The optimal growth conditions of high quality teak trees are found in the subtropical monsoon regions of India, Burma, Thailand and Indonesia. Teak does not grow in rainforests and needs at least two climatic conditions - a wet rain monsoon followed by a dry season of 3-5 months without precipitation.
Tectona Grandis is one of the few woods in the world that contains a natural oil to repel water and prevents teak from embarking, breaking or becoming fragile. This essence is extremely resistant to rot and has a natural resinous substance called tecnoquina that repels termites, marine caterpillars and other insects. This makes Teak the best material for outdoor furnishing and marine use.
